Fire TV & Firestick

The IPTV player built for Fire TV and Firestick

Smart TV Player turns an Amazon Fire TV Stick into a proper streaming front end for the playlist you already pay for. It loads M3U and Xtream Codes sources, remembers where you stopped, and is driven entirely from the Fire TV remote — no phone, no mouse, no workarounds.

Installing on Fire TV with the Downloader app

The Fire TV Stick does not install this from the Amazon App Store, so you sideload it with the free Downloader app. The whole process takes about five minutes and you only do it once.

1. Allow apps from unknown sources

On your Fire TV, open Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options and switch on Install unknown apps. On newer Fire OS builds the toggle sits under the Downloader entry in that same menu. This is the standard Amazon mechanism for installing an app outside the store, and you can switch it back off afterwards.

2. Install the Downloader app

From the Fire TV home screen, search for Downloader by AFTVnews and install it. It is free and published in the Amazon App Store, so no sideloading is needed for this step.

3. Enter the Downloader code 2175189

Open Downloader, select the URL field and type 2175189, then press Go. Downloader fetches the Smart TV Player APK built for Fire OS. If you prefer typing a full address, smarttvsetup.app/get does the same thing.

4. Install the APK

When the download finishes, Fire TV shows the installer. Choose Install and wait a few seconds. Downloader then offers to delete the APK file — accept, because the app is already installed and the file only takes up space.

5. Activate with the on-screen QR code

Open Smart TV Player on your Fire TV. It shows a QR code and a short pairing code. Scan the QR code with your phone, complete the one-time payment, and the licence lands on the TV within seconds. You never type card details with the remote.

6. Add your own playlist

Choose M3U playlist and paste the URL your provider gave you, or choose Xtream Codes and enter the server address, username and password. The player loads your channels, films and series and builds the EPG from whatever your source supplies.

Why a dedicated Fire TV build matters

A Fire TV Stick is a low-power device with a D-pad remote and no touchscreen. Phone IPTV apps ported straight to Fire OS feel wrong on it: focus jumps to the wrong tile, text is too small at two metres, and large playlists stutter while scrolling.

Smart TV Player is laid out for the ten-foot view and for remote navigation. Every control is reachable with the directional pad, the channel list stays responsive with playlists in the thousands, and playback decisions are made with the Fire TV hardware decoder rather than in software, which keeps the stick cool and the picture steady.

What you get on Fire TV

One licence covers one device for life. There is no monthly fee and no account renewal.

  • Live TV with channel groups, favourites and a last-watched list
  • Films and series from the VOD sections your source exposes, with resume support
  • EPG programme guide built from the XMLTV or Xtream data your provider sends
  • Subtitles from the stream or loaded separately, with size and position control
  • Parental control with a PIN on individual channels or whole groups
  • Multiscreen for watching more than one channel at once
  • Channel collections so you can build your own running order rather than the provider's

Which Fire TV devices are supported

Anything running Fire OS 6 or newer works, which covers every Fire TV Stick Amazon currently sells and most of the older ones:

  • Fire TV Stick 4K and 4K Max — the smoothest experience, hardware HEVC decoding
  • Fire TV Stick (3rd generation) and Fire TV Stick Lite
  • Fire TV Cube (2nd and 3rd generation)
  • Fire TV built into Toshiba, Insignia and Hisense sets
  • Older Fire TV Stick 2nd generation — works, though very large playlists load more slowly

What this app is not

Smart TV Player sells software, not television. There is no channel list bundled with it, no trial playlist, no films and no series. Open it for the first time and it is empty until you enter your own source.

That distinction is deliberate. You bring a playlist you are legally entitled to use — your own provider, your own subscription — and the player renders it. If you do not already have an M3U URL or a set of Xtream credentials, this app has nothing to show you.

Fire TV troubleshooting

Downloader will not accept the code. Check you typed it into the URL box on Downloader's Home tab rather than into its browser. The code is numeric only.

The install is blocked. Install unknown apps is still off for Downloader specifically. Fire OS keeps that permission per app, so granting it once elsewhere is not enough.

Channels buffer. Almost always the connection to your provider rather than the stick. Test the same playlist on a phone over the same Wi-Fi: if it also stutters there, the source or your bandwidth is the limit. A 4K stream needs roughly 25 Mbit/s sustained.

The EPG is empty. The guide is only as good as the data your provider sends. If the source has no XMLTV feed, there is nothing for the player to draw.

Picture but no sound. Your stream is likely using an audio codec the stick cannot decode, commonly older AC-3 variants. Switch the audio track in the player.

Fire TV questions

What is the Downloader code for Fire TV?

The Downloader code is 2175189. Open the free Downloader app on your Fire TV, type 2175189 into the URL field and press Go. The Smart TV Player APK for Fire OS downloads and the installer opens automatically.

Is Smart TV Player on the Amazon App Store?

No. It is installed by sideloading with the Downloader app, which is the standard Amazon-supported route for apps outside the store. Downloader itself comes from the Amazon App Store and is free.

Does it cost a subscription?

No. One payment of $5.99 licenses one device permanently. There is no renewal, no monthly fee and no advertising. A second Fire TV needs its own licence.

Does it include channels or films?

No. Smart TV Player is a player only. It ships with no channels, no films, no series and no playlist. You enter your own legally obtained M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials and the player displays what your source provides.

Will it work on a Fire TV Stick Lite?

Yes. The Stick Lite and the 3rd generation Stick both run it well. The 4K and 4K Max models handle very large playlists and 4K HEVC streams more comfortably.

Can I move my licence to a new Fire TV Stick?

Yes. Sign in to your dashboard at smarttvsetup.app, remove the old device and pair the new one. The licence follows your account rather than the hardware.

Does it support Xtream Codes as well as M3U?

Both. Paste an M3U or M3U8 playlist URL, or enter an Xtream Codes server address with your username and password. Xtream connections usually give a better guide and cleaner film and series sections because the API exposes more detail.

Do I need to keep unknown sources switched on?

No. Once the app is installed you can turn Install unknown apps back off in Developer Options. You only need it on again if you reinstall or update by sideloading.

Ready to set up your Fire TV?

Install with Downloader code 2175189, scan the QR code on your TV, and add your own playlist. The guide walks through every screen with the exact remote presses.
