Xtream Codes on Fire TV, entered once and remembered
Xtream Codes is an API rather than a file. Instead of one long list of URLs, the player asks your provider's server what exists and gets back structured categories, film and series catalogues and programme data. On a remote-driven device that difference is very noticeable.

Connecting Xtream Codes on Fire TV
You need three things from your provider: the server address, your username and your password. Providers sometimes label the server a portal or a host, but it is the same field.
1. Install the player on your Fire TV
Open the Downloader app, enter 2175189, install the APK and activate it with the QR code on your TV screen. The Fire TV page covers each step.
2. Choose Xtream Codes
At the connection prompt select Xtream Codes rather than M3U playlist.
3. Enter the server address
Type it as http://your-server.com:8080, including the port if your provider gave one. Do not add /player_api.php, /panel_api.php or /c/ to the end — the player appends the right endpoint itself, and a pasted suffix is the single most common reason a connection fails.
4. Enter your username and password
These are case sensitive and are not your Smart TV Player account details — they belong to your playlist provider. Type them exactly as supplied.
5. Let the catalogue load
The player queries the API for live categories, films, series and guide data. This takes a few seconds on a small account and up to a minute on a very large one. Everything is cached afterwards.
6. Check the guide
Open the programme guide. With Xtream, schedule data comes from the API directly, so if it is populated your connection is fully working. An empty guide usually means your provider does not publish EPG data rather than a problem with the setup.
Why Xtream usually beats a plain M3U file
An M3U playlist is a flat list. A film, an episode of a series and a news channel all look like the same kind of row, and the player has no way to tell them apart beyond whatever the provider typed into the group name.
The Xtream API answers separate questions. It returns live categories, a film catalogue with posters and plot summaries, and series broken into seasons and episodes. It also returns programme data without needing a separate XMLTV URL, and it reports your account's expiry date and how many simultaneous connections you are allowed.
- Films and series arrive as browsable catalogues rather than list rows
- Programme guide comes from the API — no second URL to configure
- Series remember which episode you were on
- Catch-up and archive appear where the provider supports them
- The app can show your account expiry and connection limit
Getting the server address right
Most failed connections come down to the address field. Providers hand out URLs in whatever form their panel generated, and people paste the whole thing.
Enter only the scheme, host and port. If your provider sent you something like http://example.com:8080/player_api.php?username=…, the part you need is http://example.com:8080 and nothing more. The player strips known endpoint suffixes where it can, but a mangled address with credentials embedded in it cannot always be recovered automatically.
Connection limits are the usual culprit
Xtream accounts are sold with a maximum number of simultaneous streams, often just one. If you leave the player running in a bedroom and then open the same account on a phone, the second device is refused and the error looks like a broken login.
Before assuming the credentials are wrong, close the stream everywhere else and try again. The player shows the connection allowance your provider reports, which makes this easy to confirm.
What is not included
Smart TV Player does not supply Xtream credentials, server addresses, channels, films or series. It has no content of its own and no trial account.
You enter details for a service you already subscribe to and are legally entitled to use. Without your own credentials the app has nothing to display.
Xtream Codes questions
What exactly do I type in the server field?
The scheme, host and port only — for example http://example.com:8080. Leave off /player_api.php, /panel_api.php, /c/ and any username or password in the query string. Pasting the full API URL is the most common cause of a failed connection.
My login is rejected but the details are right. What now?
Check three things: that no other device is using the same account, since many Xtream accounts allow only one stream at a time; that your subscription has not expired; and that the port is included if your provider specified one. Username and password are also case sensitive.
Is Xtream Codes better than an M3U playlist?
Usually yes, on a TV. The API returns structured film and series catalogues with posters, supplies programme data without a separate XMLTV URL, and tracks your position in a series. A flat M3U file gives one undifferentiated list.
Does the player support catch-up and archive?
Where your provider exposes it through the API, yes. Catch-up availability is set by the provider per channel, so if it does not appear it is because the source does not offer it.
Do I need a separate EPG URL with Xtream?
No. Guide data comes through the API itself. If the guide is empty, your provider is not publishing schedule data for those channels.
Do you sell Xtream Codes accounts?
No. Smart TV Player sells only the player software. It includes no credentials, no server, no channels and no films. You connect a service you already pay for.
