IPTV player for Samsung Smart TV, straight from the Galaxy Store
Smart TV Player is listed in the Samsung Galaxy Store, so on a Tizen set you install it the same way you install Netflix: search, press Install, done. There is no developer mode, no USB stick and no IP address to type in.

Installing on a Samsung Tizen TV
This works on Samsung Smart TVs from 2017 onwards. The whole process runs from the TV remote and takes a couple of minutes.
1. Open the Samsung Galaxy Store
Press the Home button on your Samsung remote and open Apps, which is the Galaxy Store. Your TV needs to be connected to the internet and signed in to a Samsung account.
2. Search for Smart TV Player
Use the magnifying glass and type Smart TV Player. Select it from the results and check the publisher before installing.
3. Press Install
The TV downloads and installs it automatically. Nothing else needs to be switched on — unlike Fire TV, Tizen does not require an unknown-sources permission, because the app comes from Samsung's own store.
4. Activate with the on-screen QR code
Open the app. It displays a QR code and a short pairing code. Scan the code with your phone, complete the one-time payment there, and the licence appears on the TV within seconds. You never enter card details with the remote.
5. Add your own playlist
Choose M3U playlist and paste the URL from your provider, or choose Xtream Codes and enter the server, username and password. The app then loads your channels, films and series.
Which Samsung TVs are supported
Smart TV Player runs on Tizen, which is the operating system Samsung has shipped on its smart TVs since 2015. The app targets 2017 models and newer:
- 2017 and later Samsung Smart TVs running Tizen 3.0 or above
- QLED, Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame and Crystal UHD ranges
- Samsung smart monitors that run Tizen and carry the Galaxy Store
- Older 2015 and 2016 sets are not supported — the Galaxy Store on those models no longer accepts current app builds
Why a store install matters on Samsung
On Fire TV you have to sideload, because Amazon does not carry this type of app in its store. Tizen is different: the app is published through Samsung, so it updates itself in the background, survives a factory reset and reinstall, and does not need a permission toggled on.
It also means you can tell at a glance that you have the genuine app. Sideloaded APKs circulating on forums are the usual way people end up with a modified build.
What you get
One licence covers one television for life. No subscription, no renewal, no advertising.
- Live TV with channel groups, favourites and a recently watched list
- Films and series from whatever VOD sections your source exposes, with resume
- EPG programme guide built from the XMLTV or Xtream data your provider sends
- Subtitles with size and position control
- Parental control with a PIN on channels or whole groups
- Multiscreen for more than one channel at a time
What is not included
Smart TV Player is a player. It contains no channels, no films, no series and no playlist, and there is no trial content. Install it and it stays empty until you enter your own source.
You connect a service you already subscribe to and are legally entitled to use. Without an M3U URL or Xtream credentials of your own, there is nothing for the app to display.
Samsung troubleshooting
The app is not in the Galaxy Store. Check the TV's region setting and that the software is up to date under Settings → Support → Software Update. Very old firmware can hide newer store listings.
The app closes on launch. Tizen keeps little memory free. Close other apps, then hold the power button for about ten seconds to force a full restart rather than standby.
Channels buffer. Usually the connection to your provider rather than the TV. Test the same playlist on a phone over the same network. Samsung's built-in Wi-Fi is also weaker than a wired connection — use Ethernet for 4K.
The guide is empty. The EPG only shows what your provider publishes. If the source has no XMLTV feed, no player can fill it in.
Samsung questions
Do I need to sideload anything on a Samsung TV?
No. Smart TV Player is listed in the Samsung Galaxy Store, so you install it like any other app: search for it, press Install and open it. There is no developer mode, no USB stick and no IP address to enter.
Which Samsung models does it work on?
Samsung Smart TVs from 2017 onwards running Tizen 3.0 or later, including the QLED, Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame and Crystal UHD ranges. 2015 and 2016 sets are not supported.
Is there a subscription?
No. One payment of $5.99 licenses one television permanently. There is no renewal and no advertising. A second TV needs its own licence.
Does it come with channels?
No. It is a player only, with no channels, films, series or playlist of any kind. You add your own legally obtained M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials.
Can I move the licence to a new Samsung TV?
Yes. Sign in to your dashboard at smarttvsetup.app, remove the old device and pair the new one. The licence belongs to your account rather than the hardware.
Does it support both M3U and Xtream Codes?
Both. Xtream usually gives a better result on a TV, because the API returns film and series catalogues with posters and supplies guide data without a separate XMLTV URL.
